American, British sex offenders arrested in Cebu

An American and a British national wanted in their countries for sexually molesting children were arrested in Cebu on Monday.

John Tomas Minor, 42, and Derek Gordon Heggie, 40, were apprehended by members of the fugitive search unit of the Bureau of Immigration based on mission orders issued by BI Commissioner Norman Tangsinco.

Marijuana plants found inside condo unit of American in Cebu City

A 75-year-old American was arrested by virtue of a search warrant for allegedly possessing marijuana plants and a growing kit inside his condominium unit in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City on Wednesday evening, November 8, 2023.

The subject of the operation was identified as 75-year-old William Lee Matteson, a pensioner from Nebraska, United States of America.

BOI Bans American Sex Offender

MANILA, Philippines — An American convicted of sex crimes involving minors was barred from entering the country last Nov. 2, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported yesterday.
Thomas Henry Vander Waal, 39, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on a flight from Taipei, Taiwan but immigration officers found his name was on the BI’s alert list of registered sex offenders, the bureau said in a statement.
