Some Electricity Truth From Bohol

Below is a COPY of an email sent to us by a viewer of this website and read out by G D Mead , called “Don’t Be Conned Anymore” on his YouTube Channel

G’day folks, today we have a long video for you but we think the latest scam about the solar should be talked about, so here it goes

 

A unit (as mentioned on the electricity bills) is represented in kWH or Kilowatt Hour. This is the actual electricity or energy used. If you use 1000 Watts or 1 Kilowatt of power for 1 hour then you consume 1 unit or 1 Kilowatt-Hour (kWh) of electricity

 

Let’s Just Take A Look At Some Electricity Prices In Your Home Countries

 

The average price a residential customer in the United States pays for electricity is 13.31 cents per kWh

 

The Australian Energy Market Commission Electricity Price Trends Report states that the average annual electricity bill across Australia for the current year is up $100 from the previous year to $1776, with an average charge of 34.41 cents per kilowatt-hour

 

The average residential cost of electricity in Canada is $0.179 per kWh. This includes both fixed and variable costs and is based on an average monthly consumption of 1,000 kWh

 

According to the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) the average cost for standard electricity in the UK in 2020 was 17.2p/kWh

 

Let’s Take A Look At The Average Cost Of Electricity In The Philippines

The power distributor announced Friday an upward rate adjustment of ₱0.2353 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), bringing the month’s overall rate to ₱8.9071 per kWh

 

Now we know this information, we can compare the prices

Philippines 8.9 Peso Per KWh

USA 6.5 Peso Per KWh

Australia 12 Peso Per KWh

Canada 7 Peso Per KWh

United Kingdom 10 Peso Per KWh

 

The average price of electricity across the 4 countries, USA, Australia, Canada and UK is 8.87 Peso Per Kwh and we know the average cost per KWh in the Philippines is 8.90

So in reality the Philippines isn’t expensive or cheap in relation to the major Western countries

 

So you can’t use the excuse that the price of electricity is really high in the Philippines to justify a huge electricity bill

And you can’t use the excuse that your paying a “foreigner” price for electricity either as some of the stupid comments made by his even more stupid subscribers, everyone pays the same for electricity in the Philippines whether your a forienger or not 

 

Now let’s look at the price per Kwh in Bohol that Brian is paying right now

According to Boheco Electricity Company’s own website the updated price for OCTOBER 2021 per Kwh is as follows:

Residential is 10 Peso Per KWh 

Commercial is 9.66 Peso Per KWh

Industrial is 8.66 Peso Per KWh

 

So the comment that Brian made on his channel that commercial prices are 35% more expensive than residential prices are wrong and Misleading and who knows where he got his figure of 35% from or why he would lie about it

Here is the comment Brian made on his video

 

YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT ALTHOUGH THIS IS A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY IT’S ONLY WITH REGARDS TO GOVERNMENT, THERE IS A SORT OF SOCIALIST MENTALITY TO EVERYTHING ELSE. “YOU ARE RICH, GIVE ME SOME” ALONG WITH THAT GOES THE “RICH PEOPLE ARE BAD, BUSINESSES ARE OWNED BY RICH PEOPLE SO THEY ARE BAD TOO” THE BUSINESS/COMMERCIAL RATE IS 35% HIGHER THAN THE HOUSEHOLD RATE. I GUESS SINCE THEY CAN AFFORD IT RIGHT?

 

Even Dave Chapman made a similar comment and it just shows how Brian preys on the stupid and non thinkers of this world

I HAVE BEEN ASKING BRIAN TO GET THE COMMERCIAL RATE ASSESSED FOR OVER 3 YEARS, IT IS ABOUT 25-30% CHEAPER THAN DOMESTIC. CAN’T REMEMBER IF HE EVER ASKED AT BOHECO IF HIS FARM COMPLIES WITH THE REGULATIONS TO GET THE LOWER PRICE

 

And as per usual Brian just agrees with what some comment that’s made without any proof of the claim, anyone like me who has a brain can just goto the BOHECO website and they publish the prices on the homepage of the website, so Dave, your just as dumb as Brian for making up stories without even bothering to check any facts

 

No where in the world will you find business rates higher than residential for electricity and the answer is so simple, because a business uses alot more electricity per day, per month, per year

Especially industrial businesses who use massive amounts of electricity compared to residential homes

 

Brian says his electricity bill is between 10,000 and 15,000 Pesos Per Month and its easy to do the maths on how much electricity is being used Per Month

 

10,000 Peso divided by 9.66 Peso is 1035 KWh used per month or 34 KWh per day

15,000 Peso divided by 9.66 Peso is 1552 KWh used per month or 51 KWh per day

 

Its basic maths that no one seems to grasp, especially Brian and his dimwit followers who wouldn’t know facts even if we publish them

 

What’s the average home power usage per day? 

In 2019, residential customers in the United States purchased an average of 10,649 kilowatt-hours of electricity. This works out to be roughly 887 kilowatt-hours per month, or about 30 kilowatt-hours per day

The main reason why Americans use a lot of electricity per household is simple, they love aircon and will have it turned on 24/7

 

So now we have to ask the question, why does Brian use so much electricity every month?

Brian has no tv

Brian isn’t incubating chicken eggs anymore

Brian doesn’t have the piggery anymore

Brian uses a gas cooker, not electric

 

Brian does have lighting, a fridge, a freezer, a well pump and 2 aircons

 

So what exactly is contributing to the enormous energy consumption??

 

We have already proved its not because of the price of the electricity

We have already proved its not because Brian is being charged a “foreigner” price for electricity

We have already proved that the commercial cost per KWh is actually less than the residential cost per KWh

 

So his lame excuses have been blown out the water, a typical Brian Smith always comes up with an excuse for everything

 

Lighting, fridge, freezer etc.. Are all low energy consumers in comparison to heating and cooling devices like electric heat blowers and aircons, but Brian doesn’t need to produce heat in the Philippines but he does need to produce a comfortable cool breeze during hot days and nights

 

As we know, Brian has 2 aircon units one is 0.5hp and the other slightly higher at 0.75hp but let’s just say both are 0.5hp for arguments sake

 

A 0.5hp aircon will use 367 watts of power or 0.36 watts per hour (KWh)

So running an aircon all night for 12 Hours will use a total of 4.40 KWh or in real money the aircon will use 42 Pesos Per 12 hour period (4.40 x 9.66) 

Running that aircon all day and night, it will use 8.8 KWh in a 24 hour period and cost 84 Pesos (8.80 x 9.66) 

Running both aircons all day and night would use 17.6 KWh in a 24 hour period and cost 164 pesos (17.6 x 9.66)

 

Running both aircons 24/7 for a whole month would use 526 KWh and cost 5690 Pesos including the 12%Vat

 

So either my maths are incorrect, which could be a reason but very rarely am I wrong when it comes to facts and figures or there is something else on the farm using double, if not 3 times the electricity that the aircon units are using

 

But, using the principle that an aircon unit takes warm air from outside, cools it and then disperses into the room or house to then reduce the air temperature in the room or house

And an aircon unit has a temperature sensor built in and will automatically shut off and turn on when the room temperature goes above the setting and turns off when the temperature reaches the set temperature

 

I shouldn’t have to explain this but there are a lot of idiots in YouTube land that need it explaining

 

But what would cause an aircon unit to use more electricity than it should? Does anyone know?

Has anyone driven their car with the aircon turned on at the same time having your window open and noticed you using more fuel? That happens because the aircon is running at a higher capacity trying to cool the car and the entire world as your driving, there is a constant flow of warm air coming into the car from outside, its basic physic principals

 

The same applies for your house, that’s why it’s recommended to keep your house sealed, not letting warm air enter your house as it puts more “load” on your aircon unit

 

Seal the leaks

 

A drafty house is not an energy-efficient house. The D.O.E recommends doing a visual check inside and outside the home for gaps, cracks and openings where air can come and go. Windows and doors are the obvious places to check, but there are many other areas that are prone to leaks, such as where the home’s foundation meets the exterior brick or siding.

 

For a thorough assessment of your property, hire a professional technician for an energy audit. A professional can find energy-inefficient leaks where you might not think to look and can tell you where more insulation is needed

 

Conclusion

So, our only logical conclusion that the electricity bill is so high, because the house has no ceiling and the aircons are constantly working overtime to cool the rooms while new warm air is being introduced into the rooms from outside, because the roof is all open

 

Or, it could be that the monthly electricity bill claimed by Brian is a total lie and Brian is using that as another “feel sorry for me” excuse to get some idiot to buy him a solar system

 

 

Again, we just put the information out there and it’s you the viewers who are the judges
